I've realized how much of a difference a good bass drum head can really make. In the beginning I had a 1ply head that came with my Tama set. I used a pillow in there and tried to muffle it as much a possible to get the deep boomy sound but was never really able to achieve it. I finally dished out 35 bucks for an Aquarian Superkick and i absolutely love it. It sounds so good even without the pillow in there and I'm able to get that boomy sound. I never really knew that heads can make so much of a difference. I always thought that tuning and muffling could always get any sound, but this is just not true. What bass heads do you guy all use? I'm also thinking about getting one of those teflon patches to put on the bass head as well. Anyone have any experiences with this?

yes heads are huge... some pinstripes can make a crappy CB drum set sound decent
