Re: What sticks do you use? Well I'm still using, and liking all the pro marks I'v eused...747's, 2B's, and 747B's...think a couple others but yea. 747's(B's also) for concert band stuff and and 2B's and 747B's for set. Then for marching snare, using both vic signatures and..can't remember the other brand, but yea, they do the trick and last long enough...depending how many performances we do I guess though.
O yea, vinyl tips for set sticks and usually concert to, mostly cause every wood tip stick I've used on my set has chipped, which sorta sucks when it does and you don't know, so you keep playing and yuo dent your head(s) in, sucks. The vinyl tips seem to last long and if they do crack/chip off you usually will see it. Then wood tips for marching cause that's what our band director said, I liek vinyls cause when I do "wicky's..wiky's" it's louder with vynils but whatevs. |

Re: What sticks do you use? I use the ProMark Carter Beauford model... a bit more expensive, but they're not quite a 5A and not quite a 5B, but when I first used them it was like a light went on and I've never strayed from them for over 4 years.
I personally bisect (i.e., tear down the middle) a 6-inch piece of duct tape and wrap it around the base of the stick (think like a baseball player taping the knob of the bat) and that keeps it from coming out of my hand.
I do think, however, that a good purchase is a clamp/stickholder on your hi-hat, and that a good exercise in practice is to drop sticks while playing and get in the habit of picking up a new one while keeping some semblence of beat going. It will help you someday! |

Re: What sticks do you use? It varies from the music genre but I stopped my choice on the Vic Firth Steve Gadd sig. for the moment, they are light and very well balanced. |
