Re: What sticks do you use?

I have always been a fan of vater sticks. Love the quality of the wood and they are always durable.

I am on my last 2 pairs of Zildjian 5B's and although I liked the control and feel of them they have all been cracking fairly quickly even after I tilted all my cymbals (got 5 pairs for Christmas).

bought a couple pairs of Vater Los Angeles 5A's and after using them a couple times I can see they will be my new standard. I have no problem with reach as I'm pretty lanky so I can't give much feedback on that. But I do like there isn't much of a neck on the stick before the tip which suits my sticking style as the added weight gives me a little more power behind bounced notes and accents but allowing your sound to remain dynamic.

Always wood tips for me. Started using nylon when I first started playing and never liked playing a ride with the nylon tip never noticed much other difference other than that.

I used to use some firefox sticks. They were nice and light perfect for fast rolls. Then I bought a pair of zildjians and they broke in a week. And now I use pro mark sticks and signature sticks.

I use Vic Firth 7As. I just like how they're light and i can move them around easier. The downside is I can't roll as well with them as my other ones (5A). I feel like the weight sort of brings it down, but only a little.

Vic Firth 7A American Classic are made of Hickory.

Por.Mark Millennium II 5A New Generation are make of Japan Oak.

5A for practice warmups and 7A for playing with the drums.

Right now, I use Vic Firth Metal wood tip. But, because I am an America living here in China, I have looked at what the Chinese have. They have a very good brand called HUN Drumsticks. They are not as great as Vic Firth, but they are very good, none the less.

Have you tried Vater drum sticks? Another factor is when you take a close look at the drum stick, you'll notice the loops or knots. Play the sticks so as to not hit the instruments with the knots facing away from the instruments. A baseball bat is simillar, it will crack if you hit the ball with the knot facing it.

I've just got to get me a Chad Smith drum throne with a vent.
