I have always been a fan of
vater sticks. Love the quality of the wood and they are always durable.
I am on my last 2 pairs of
Zildjian 5B's and although I liked the control and feel of them they have all been cracking fairly quickly even after I tilted all my cymbals (got 5 pairs for Christmas).
bought a couple pairs of
Vater Los Angeles 5A's and after using them a couple times I can see they will be my new standard. I have no problem with reach as I'm pretty lanky so I can't give much feedback on that. But I do like there isn't much of a neck on the stick before the tip which suits my sticking style as the added weight gives me a little more power behind bounced notes and accents but allowing your sound to remain dynamic.
Always wood tips for me. Started using nylon when I first started playing and never liked playing a ride with the nylon tip never noticed much other difference other than that.
