Well I use clear on my toms and bass and coted on my snare.
I just swiched to the power stroke 3 on all of them and I git a good sound out of them but I had a hard time keeping them in tune and they wore out very quickly.

I have used pinstripes for a very long time but thought I would try somthing diffrent.

i also have clear on my bass and toms and coated on my snare... the thing is that I think that the coated have a warmer feel to it, especially on the toms.. the clearer have a stronger attack.. someone correct me if im wrong

yea I do belive that is how its suposed to work.

I just found that the clear heads seem to last longer than cotaded.
I play the crap out of my toms and my clear heads always outlast my snare head.
the only reason I dont go to a clear snare head is because I never could get the right sound out of it like I wasnted to.

thanks for the clarification... also the coated heads tend to peel especially on the snare.. leaves a white flaky residue..

full metal, if you're thinking about an alternative to pinstripes I suggest Evans 2 ply hydraulics... I made the switch myself and I really liked the results on my toms..

I've heard that the quality of Remo heads have declined over the years.. not 100% sure if this is 100% true but I like Evans heads better

well judging only on looks, I like clear cuz coated makes ur drums look sorta cheap.. just like the look of clear better.. its cleaner... plus i don think the sound makes that much difference

no offince here but what are you smoking.
who cares about looks. I am interstead in sound qualty.
it is about what sound you are looking for.

I mean the drummer from SOD like to use a coteded batter head on some of his toms and I would imagine it is for sound because my exsperince with those is that they dont last very long when you play hard.
I just prefere the clear heads a lot more in sound and how long it last.

that is so not true dude...
if you didn't care about looks then why get your drums in a certain color laquer or wrap? why not just use the wood? it would be a lot cheaper... of course sound is important but what im saying is that looks count too... im sure if u cared only about sound u would have a pretty ****ty looking flea market kit

also, as drummers we're considered performers.. and i think our performance is somewhat dependant on looks... the hot actress is gonna be more popular than the busted one in the end

All Im saying is that if your kit looks great but sounds like a** then whats the point.

I have seen some perfesonal drummers that kits that dont look all that great but they sound outstanding do they care what it looks like no not really.

I mean I have black heads on the underside of my toms and on my bass but whats on top no one can really see anyways but If I thought I was getting a better sound out of the fiber skins then i would have those on there and I dont care what it looked like.
