Drum silencers

Do you use them? I don't. If I lived in an apartment I might use them.

I don't really like them. They're basically like rubber mousepads you put on your drum heads. It's like having a Ferrari and only letting it go to 1st gear. I'd much rather buy an electric kit or some practice pads if I was in an apartment and needed to practice quietly.

I've got some, and I do use them from time to time. I'm fortunate in that I've got my own house, and my drums are in a room below ground, so I do have some opportunity to practice without any mutes on the drum. I do still use them, tho, especially when I'm working on double bass drum technique. I'm still a beginner at double bass, and I'm at the same stage as someone woodshedding rudiments on a practice pad, so for that sort of thing the pads aren't a hinderance.
