Ahead Drumsticks

What do you guys think of Ahead Drumsticks? I've been thinking of buying a pair of Tommy Lee drum sticks or maybe Lars Ulrich or Joey Jordison drum sticks. So are they really worth $30?

Ive used them for several years now and I like them but the only thing about them is they will break with time.

I play mostly metal and hard rock and they will take quite a beating but after a while they will break but if you dont play real hard you might get more use out of them.
mine usealy last about a year.
if you get them I would sugest getting the pro mark grip tape for them. it makes it a lot easier to hold on to them.

I had the lars sticks.
if you have any questions about them please feel free to ask.

one other thing about them that I didnt like was rim shots. I dont think that you get the right kind of sound out of them when you do a rim shot. it's just not as loud as when you do with a wooden stick.

start off with wood, esp if youre a beginner... i don't think you're going to break any sticks as a starter

I've got 2 pairs of 2b's for band and a bunch of crappy 1s that were like a $1 per pair but the guy at the store let me pick out a free pair of wood rock sticks.

for your drum sticks I would say just go out and get you a set of pro marks 747 and those should last you for a good while. and you will like the feel.

My friend had a pair of ahead sticks and the tip would always come off and the metal screw-on part would slice up his heads. So I stick with Vic Firths..

just go down to your local drum or music shop and spend an hour or so testiong all of their sticks find what feels and sounds the best. Don't buy something because an endorsed drummer plays them or because they look pretty (I have a pair of purple dipsticks lol)
