does anyone have information on where i could buy synthetic cat gut snare strands??? i've only seen them on marching band snares and i certainly don't want to have to purchase a drum just to get the snare strand!! when i was a kid i received a single snare as a gift. it was a vintage snare (possibly a jazz snare) and i don't recall who made it, but i do remember that it had cat gut snare strands-- it had a beautiful sound. unfortunately the snare was stolen from me so i no longer have it i would like to see if i could buy them somewhere and see how they would sound on my mapex cherrywood snare.

Couldn't find any of them sold seperatley. You could possibly go to your nearest music shop and have them look up the part # and order it. Might be your best bet. Good luck!

I aggree that going to your local music store and ordering it is probably the best idea. I havent found any online yet but if i find some i will let ya know.
