Re: anyone familiar with evans heads?? Yes i have evans G2's on all my drums.I love them sometimes in practice i will play with my pipe band sticks, there real heavy,But ive had the heads on for two years and havent had problems yet.Guys get this IN TWO,YES TWO WEEKS I WILL HAVE MY TAYE SET,(YES) ok its a five piece but i can build it to a seven piece, but i will be using evans g2's on my tom heads.
I have an evans st on my snare. The G2's are a double ply so you got great attack, but short
sustain there fully controlled you got a choice in g2's clear fat attack open and coated : focused attack both are full controlled sustain. Latter after i try the g-2's on my taye set i will switch to the hydraulic set mabey the blue because it's wet dry short sustain. try the evans
st dry for your snare top head cost around $14.50 with tax but you will be able to hit harder
on your snare than ever, and if that's not good enough go with the top of the line for snare heads??? THE ROCK AF(Aramid fiber) around$40.00You will not be able to hit hard enough to blow your snare head.Evans are a very good brand of heads for your drums.Even for the bass
they make Great heads. My best advice Start with what you got and go from there, try each
G1,G2, THERE VERY STRONG. iF I CAN PRACTICE WITH Pipe band sticks which are KP3, THEN I THINK THE HEADS ARE STRONG ENOUGH,YOU MIGHT NEED TO TAKE THE HEAD OFF, PUT THEM BACK ON THE DRUM ,TURN THE HEAD AROUND ON THE SHELL OF THE DRUM BEFORE YOU PUT THE HOOP BACK ON, This is call Reseating the head make sure once you put the hoop back on that you get all wrinkles out, this will weaken the head,Trust me the evans heads will take the pounding,If there seated right, and not too tight,Loosen your bottom head all the way, then hand tight the top head,Start there for tunning the head.Remember to tun clockwise
aHALF TURN ON EACH LUG UNTIL YOU FIND THE NATURAL PITCH OF THE DRUM ITSELF.This is very important, too high is bad and too low is bad, some where in the middle is good. |
