anyone familiar with evans heads?? About two weeks ago, I bought evans g2 tom heads for my kit. i have noticed that these heads are wearing kinda easy, already noticing small dents in the heads. im very impressed with the sound quality, but im concerned about the durability. anyone have any suggestions, tips, etc. i would appreciate it greatly.
Peace

Re: anyone familiar with evans heads?? I love the g2 heads, what size sticks are you using? You could just play really hard like I do. I prefer a 5a stick. |

Re: anyone familiar with evans heads?? Yeah I'm pretty hard hitting on my g2's and they don't bust that easily. In spite of their brilliant tone, you may need something heavier if you're gonna pound them like that. |

Re: anyone familiar with evans heads?? What I meant was, are you using heavy sticks? I haven't had any problems out of the heads and I play really hard. I don't have the g2's right now but if I'm not mistaken, those are two ply heads, right? Unless you're using heavy sticks and beating the **** out of them they really should be pretty durable.... |

Re: anyone familiar with evans heads?? If you have done anything different recently that would impact the angle of how your stick hits your tom then I would adjust that first. Could have been raising the seat a few inches, or adjusting the tom angle, or if you adjusted how you swing the stick.
This is important because if you have too much angle you will bury the very end of the tip into the drum. Perfect example is my 12" tom loosened up enough to allow the tom to move down... and I didn't think much of it because it stopped after dropping about two inches... But those 9-10 hits I planted on that angle dented the head. I was using Buddy Rich series Vic Firth... which is basically a modified 5A with a bit more meat in the front. I wasn't pleased since I had the heads for only a month or so. But I still have the G2 heads on my batters for toms and it has been almost a year with the same heads now. |

Re: anyone familiar with evans heads?? The angle of the drum and the angle of the stick can impact a head differently. Have you made sure that your heads are properly tuned and not too loose or too tight? Have you made sure all your lugs are at the same tension? Because a lug too loose might cause ripples in your heads and they will damage easier. |
