How do you make a double pedal faster?

I have a dw7000 double pedal and its sturdy well build and very adjustable with double chain drive. My friend has a gibraltar double pedal with leather strap drive. Mine cost 220 bucks, his about 100 something he said. But his flies like lightning compared to mine. I can play so much faster on his than mine and he has never adjusted it at all since he got it. I dont understand why. How can I make mine that fast?

There are two forms of resistance in your pedal. The tension in your spring and the weight of the beater head.

I would start by lowering your beater heads a tiny bit at a time (like "1/4) until you find the resistance feels right. When you've gone too far, the pedal will feel very light and it'll be hard to do a good fast kick with one foot.

At this point you can either raise the beater again or begin tightening your springs to compensate.

Play around with these factors long enough and you'll find that magic balance between your foot and the pedal, as your feet get stronger you'll have to make more minor adjustments, but your DW will certainly crap all over a Gibralter.

Yea I figured out that it was the beater weight. When I put the beaters really low, particularly the main pedal, the chain begins to jingle and clank when i release the pedal, i dont know why.
