Arrow Whats the best bass drum beater?

I'm looking for a light weight beater with a plastic face. I currently use the DW beaters on the dw7000 pedals. They are quite heavy compared to a standard felt beater. I was wondering which beater is very light and of good quality. Like one of the Iron Cobra beaters or a Gibraltar one. Can anyone give me an analysis on beaters haha. I havent figured them out totally. But yea I need a recommendation.

Re: Whats the best bass drum beater?

For a light weight beater I'd deffinatley go for the tama. Just try to get the ones with the moveable weight on the shaft, that can be really helpful.

Also I'd consider getting a beater that has a better positioned weight for example the sonor or slugg beaters. Both have a medium weight to them, but I find the elongated head puts more weight directly front and back and feels very pleasing. Try a lot out at your drum store to find what you want.

Re: Whats the best bass drum beater?

I have a gibraltar flat one, very light and punchy, I use the stock felt ball. Seems to me the extra weight in the back helps bring the beater head back a hair faster, which I need. I suppose it depends on your musical style, speed, and volume, plus of course the sound. I used to have round wood ones, man it gave the bass a nice wet sound.......
