Re: Falling nylon tips, SOLVED!!!!!

Mr. Skin;
RATS!!!! I thought you had found this awesomely simple answer to a problem that has been driving me (and probably many other drummers) NUTS for a long time. Pro-Mark and some of the other stick manufacturers that check this forum from time to time, How about stepping up and telling us in your ads that your TIPS will STAY PUT??????? Some of them fall off easier than pasties on a stripper. Pro-Mark has been a favorite product for a long time. Clear back to the days when they made the "Tiny Mite G". I quit using any of the Zildjian products a couple of years ago when their quality control went South in favor of their profit margins.
INSERT: Dear Mr. Zildjian; Not EVERYBODY wants the cheapest junk they can buy.-END
I know that every facet of the music industry is extremely competitive. Especially with most of the drums & hardware manufactured in China now. BUT!!!!--
Companies like Ludwig, Gretsch, Zildjian, Pro-Mark, DW, are still alive & fairly healthy today because they produced QUALITY products in the past.
Most of us are aware that all of the above companies and many others have to be able to produce an offshore inexpensive product to get the volume of sales to stay in business. But, a good example of how it's done would be DW. They HAD to bring in the PDP line from offshore to keep ther boat afloat. They do however, still make TOP QUALITY American made drums. The same goes for Gretsch. and many, many other companies. Is it possible that a drumstick manufacturer could sell a cheap line of sticks for the volume sales and also produce a high quality line of sticks at a higher price??
I would certainly be very happy to spend another buck or two to get a decent, quality product that will not fail half way through a job. You manufacturers make us good drums. How about good tools to play them with?

I'm giving you 100 points Lukey. Your method was simpler (required less tools), effective and less time-consuming. Glue is the new duct tape!

Re: Falling nylon tips, SOLVED!!!!!

I probably overstated the case for glue. Duct tape is still my favourite repair thing of all time. I've got practically a whole roll wrapped around my hi-hat stand, since I broke a leg to make it fit better between 2 bass drums.

Duct tape forever...and the real thing, not that crappy "duck tape."

Re: Falling nylon tips, SOLVED!!!!!

Sorry for hijacking the thread (it's an old one anyway so I don't feel too bad). But is there really a difference between duct tape and gaffer tape, or are they just different names for the same thing?
(I don't know how to delete this post. I found an old thread under "drum talk" about duct tape (!), so I have asked my question there).

Duck Slinger59;
Hey--You may be the guy that ruined my -Could've been really successful business. I bought 400 ducks to raise to make "Duck Tape" out of. This was the real thing. Not that fakey Silvery stuff from some other Country. I had to boil all the ducks and roll them all out smooth with a rolling pin and I even added some proper "Camouflage" coloring to the stuff. So maybe it didn't stick quite as good as that Silvery stuff. But it was the REAL thing. Then Someone???? Maybe you???--put out this rumor that my "Duck Tape" was no good. Thanks a lot. Now all I've got is Duck Soup. HEY--Do you like soup??????

Re: Falling nylon tips, SOLVED!!!!!

i was using the zildjian dip drumsticks awhile before i switched to the Aheads, and i never had tips fall of except once, on one stick, and it shattered so i couldn't glue it. The aheads, you just put a drop of superglue, and the stay on FOREVER.
