Ha,Ha, Guss; good humour!!

Imagine how that would end up! I reckon that's a very expensive way to chop firewood
On a lighter note, for metal the Regal Power Sleeves might be the ticket.

Cheers and happy Drumming

Harry

Sorry Guss,

I put you wrong there, I think the Power Sleeves are by Aquarian.

Cheers and happy drumming,

Harry

Re: best drum sticks ever?

I used to play vic firth buddy rich model... over 10 years worth of playing through them. Then over the last year I decided to really focus on sticking and learning new things such as moeller, gravity rolls, blast beats, etc... what I found is that it got bad enough that I would break a stick within about 2 hours worth of playing. That isn't acceptable as far as I am concerned. I switched to all different kinds of sticks and nothing would hold up to my heavy playing.

Having different sticks for jazz and rock and etc are not quite as important as durability for me. Cause even if I play something soft I don't want my stick to chip when I feel the urge to lay into a big rim shot.

So I am in a process of change. I bought some promark Oak sticks... 5A and 5B model. So far I have clocked up about 12 hours of playing on each stick and the wood tips are looking at me saying "What, you can't hurt me!"

My mid section and down the shoulder are dented all to hell but the tips are in perfect shape. The normal denting of the stick isn't creating cracks in the wood like the hickory ones were.

Now Oak is more dense and transfers more vibration to the players hands.... so it takes a little getting used to but for those of us out there vibrating the sticks into splinters oak is a nice choice

I do find myself favoring the 5A for tight jazz or progressive playing... and the 5B seems more suited for blues/rock. With hickory If I could just buy the buddy rich model in oak I'd be happy.
