It's actually working out okay for the moment, but we'll see on jam night. actually I'm loving those vaters I bought and they're alot lighter than the 2b promarks, so i haven't really been bothering with them.

Is there really that much of a difference between sticks? I've just been using Vic Firth Hickory 5b's and they seem to feel great. (Although my comparison is... some sticks that came with the kit)

Re: I've had it!!!!! New sticks please

I use Vater 1A and Promark 720 intruder models with no probs at all.
Good stick selection is critical to getting good technique which will reduce stick breakage. Balance points, tip selection, shoulder weight, thickness, etc are all factors to consider to make a better player, affect your sound, and playing performance, we are all different.

Researching how sticks are made and their finer points is a worthwhile exercise. refer Ian Paice DVD "Not for the pros" for a look at how sticks are factory made.

From experience (i'm a belter from way back) i found a few years ago some better techniques and relaxing methods that have helped incredibly with my playing, i rarely break sticks now, get more control and dynamics with out any straining, have better groove and time, etc.

Refer to these two DVD's i can recommend are JoJo Mayer "Secrets"or Tiger Bill Meligari "tension free drumming" DVD's (see his web site). They will both help you.

Thanks for the interesting information.
I don't know what the heads of my Premier 7A sticks are made of; nylon, delmar or what...anyone know?
