Are these a good head combination?

I have a Tama Superstar EFX kit with standard shell pack. Anyways it's that time again to buy new heads. It's been about 2 years now and I have always had the Evans EC2's on my kit with the Aquarian Superkick I. Do you think I should stick with the EC2's or buy the Evans G2 Clear for top and G1 for bottum? I've been debating it for a while.

Depends on what sound you are after out front, the Evans site has a good guide for head selection worth checking out.

Won't hurt to try something new friend. How have you found the EC2's? If they're losing their tone too quickly or just too focussed, then certainly go the G2's. I play them on my poplar export for metal (predominantly) and they're great.

Re: Are these a good head combination?

Do a little research... go test some if you can.

I think I have found my flavor now.
I have tried both G2 as a batter and a resonant
I have used both G1 as a batter and resonant
I have tried the EC2 as a batter.

What I havn't used is the new EC2 resonant....

My experience with the G2s is that they provide such a lovely thud to the sound. I think it just might be a little bit too much for the rack toms... but for the floor toms they make them boom. Ever get so annoyed with the foor tom having too much high pitched ring. Try slapping a G2 on the bottom with an EC2 on the top.... My 15" floor tom just thuds so nicely.

Give my drums a listen if you like... Thought I'd share a project
