Micing my 14"tom???

Ok so here's the deal . . . .

I have a Tama Superstar Custom with 10", 12" and 14" toms. The whole kits sounds great, untill I mic the kit up. The 10" & 12" toms sounds great, but the 14" tom, well I just cant get a nice sound of the tom, no matter what I do.

Maybe I must just mention that the kit still have the original Tama heads on. I usually mic the kit through my personal mixer and Peavy 300 Combo amp. thats usually fairly close to me.

Anyway, I tend to get this hollow sound with almost no punch. When I lift the volume on my mixer the head starts to resonate aggressivly.... I hope you understand what I am saying.

My next step is putting on some new heads, Evans G2-Coated . . . so I hope I am not the only one with this problem
