Need new heads

Hey, I'm new on here, and pretty much a beginner when it comes to drumming. I want to put new heads on my kit, I'm just not sure how to do it. Like sizing, which heads I should buy. That sort of thing. I'll give a bit of history and what I'm looking for, my kit is a Dixon, model The Duke. It's lasted me for over 10 years. But the heads are pretty battered. I'm looking for something cheap. The reason is I am trying to sell this kit, and I'm trying to make it look a bit more appealing. Well I hope I posted in the right place and that I can get some great answers. Thanks for your help.

Not sure if this is as accurate as I think personally, depending on the quality or dollar value of the kit, you won't get all your head money in return. It will add to the value of your kit, but if it's not a real in demand kit, new heads won't help as much as you probably hope. Besides, maybe you can up your price a few bucks and then tell them you'll throw in heads they want to entice the deal a bit. Just a thought. Good luck.

Re: Need new heads

Drumheads are not cheap. If you are selling the kit and have to get new heads then stick with the 1 ply batter and reso. Look for any specials that you might be able to find. Some drum stores will hold a "buy 5 and get 1/2" off kind of deal.

Maybe you sould consider dropping off a litle on the price because of the beated up heads. I think the difference you are expecting with new heads will not compensate you as far as a better price is concerned.
