Best thing you can do it test drive it in a store and see if it suits your needs. I had a less expensive Gibraltar pedal which I broke the linkage to the slave pedal. Might have been just bad luck though.

I suggest looking into a pearl or lower end DW double pedal. I bought the gibraltar avenger 2 and had to do some work on it. The footboards are not solid, as they have those holes cut in them to "look cool". I play in socks, and my feet/toes would feel funky when part of my skin was on metal and part was in the holes. Fortunately, the previous double pedal I had was made by Kaman music, the same parent company as Gibralter, so I switched out the foot boards, and now it's pretty good. The beaters are also different, but I ended up really liking them. Still, I suggest looking into other similarly priced pedals.

I'm not sure what your price range is, but I can recomend the sonor 400. I'm playing one at the mo' and it's great value. I noticed that the gibralter requires a key to clamp to the bass drum hoop. This could become anoying when setting up for shows and personally I wouldn't be too keen on the low-weight, one-sided beater, but it has base plates on both with velcro and a double chain for better playability. It's all up to you my friend.
