Re: what double bass pedal is good?

Bass pedals are like wearing a pairs of shoes. If they fit and are comfortable, wear them. I'd say that the best way is to go to the store and tryout all the brands. See which fits best. Forget about what we say on the forum, because you will have to live with the choice you make. I'm serious about this whole double or single bass kick thing. Just because other drummers like to drive a Hummer doesn't mean every body else does. Good luck on your search. Maybe the DW9002 might be good for you, and maybe not. My son prefers doubles, I prefer two single bass pedals. Just being an honest Indian.

Re: what double bass pedal is good?

It is individual taste for sure that would dictate which pedal is best for me. I was just curious what your personal take was on the two pedals side by side.

Re: what double bass pedal is good?

I tried a Pearl Eliminator and the Tama Iron Cobra side by side and personally liked the IC better. The Pearl was noisey so I purchased the IC.

I have no experience with Janus. If you have a Guitar Shop near you head down there. They tend to have quite a few doubles you can demo on the showroom foor.

Re: what double bass pedal is good?

That looks to be the next greatest pedal. It doesn't ship to stores until May 2009 and I can hardly wait to go try them out!

Here is a link so everyone can check them out:

Pearl Demon Drive Double Bass Drum Pedal P-3002D

I like the adjustments also. These pedals have a dual footboard set up so they can be used as long boards or split boards (very very cool). To get this set up right now you would need to buy 2 different pedals i.e. Axis Longboards and Pearl Eliminators. The beater adjustment allows for heavy hitting style and finesse hitting style. To bet that you would have to buy 2 different pedals also i.e. (Tama Iron Cobra Power Glides and Tama Iron Cobra Rolling Glides). I am definitely going to hold off on buying my new pedal until I have at least tried the new Pearl for sure.

The MSRP is pretty high so entry level players would probably go to a less expensive pedal to get their chops rather than spending the cash. As a matter of fact I would definitely need to sell my Iron Cobras before I could even think about buying them. Then again I wouldn't need them with this pedal anyhow.

I Have Used several pedals. Iron cobras are great but seem heavy. At the moment, i am using an axis double pedal. Its the best one for the price, which in your land will be worth a donkey or a couple goats. Jk.

The Axis Longboards are very nice, but I hear rumors that the foot board breaks at the top with heavy play.

Re: what double bass pedal is good?

Personally I prefer the Pearl Power shifter. I have the single and the double. I like the interchangeable cams on the single pedal too. Always been a badass pedal for playing shows and stood the test of abuse!!
But all the guys are right,...it's YOUR technique that matters and how comfortable you are or get with your double pedal. Lotsa people prefer different ones. I ahve a buddy that swears upon the Axis pedals...but I do not like them,...not for myself. It's all about you and what you conform to or get use to. I do like the DW pedals, but like one guy already said...they are expensive,...but then again everything is in the drummer world. Ya gotta love it!
Cheers!
