Question Black/White front kick

Just wanted to get other opinions.....I am using black fronts on both of my kits at this time. I have noticed that a lot of new drums now come with a white front head on the kick drum ( including my DW Classic kit). I have thought about putting the white front back on for a while. Black front ? ......... White front ?
( On my DW kit I like both for different reasons: )

Re: Black/White front kick

I have used clear heads more often than not. I see Keeper of Tyme has a picture of his kit in the drum kit photos section of the forum with clear heads. Other than the sloppiness of seeing the padding inside the drum, I think the transparent look is cool.

But as for black or white, I guess black heads on black drums would be nice. Bon Jovi's drummer has black drums and black skins on all the toms and maybe even black cymbals if I recall (I saw the concert a few months ago). I like colour myself, but the all black look was interesting. If I had a colourful kit with white skins then I'd go with a white reso head on the kick drum for consistency.

I say who cares about the color just get one that can be tuned to what you want/like. But for visual appeal I used to like black...but now I like white cause for shows I think it looks cool to have a light behind the bass with a white head to light it up.

Re: Black/White front kick

Yeah, it's all a matter of personal preference. Regarding clear resonant, if you tune them well enough you shouldn't require any dampening unless you like that dead kick sound rather than the open and resonant sound. I kinda like th in-between sound that I get from using the Aquarian Super Kick 2 Clear Bass Drum Head and an Evans EQ Pad Bass Drum Muffling Pad on the resonant head. Like I said, it's a matter of personal preference. I might try out the Super Kick 1 soon so I get more sustain.
