My friend let me barrow Skull Canddys.
They worked really good.

so can drumming

if you are smart about the volume, it wont damage your hearing. as long as you can hear yourself talk, its not too loud. you can get louder than that, but speaking level is like 70dbl. you dont start to damage your hearing until about 90dbl, and even at 90dbl, it takes a long time to hurt your hearing. of course frequency has alot to do with it, so if you listen to high frequency stuff like piccolo music or something, your hearing is shot quicker. you probably know this stuff, jim, but i thought id post it anyway.

right now im looking for some good WIRELESS headphones. it really frustrates me to be recording something and then suddenly catch my stick on a headphone wire and make me mess up. are those bose headphones wireless?

Re: Isolation Headphones

It's got nothing to do with DB's or Frequencies. It's the enclosure and pressure causing the ear drum to move involuntarily that causes the skin to thicken. Like a blister forming then trying to heal itself.

Any excessive loud noise, like after going to a concert, it takes your hearing to readjust.

What, what?

Re: Isolation Headphones

Hmmm. Well I disagree that it has nothing to do with decibels, but I was going out on a limb with the frequencies stuff.

Do you have a site I can look at to understand this better? I'll try to find some of it myself, but a site would be great.

As an electronics engineer who studied all this. You can take your own word in this subject.

Watch out for those cooties.

Re: Isolation Headphones

I know you're a Tech-Guy, so I knew better than to dismiss your response without some discussion! I'm taking your word that you know your stuff, but I have just learned differently and would like to learn properly, if the case is that I have been misinformed.

The dbl ruler is great, but it doesn't have any info on frequencies or pressure. Those are the things I don't understand concerning hearing loss. The site in your post says that regular exposure to sound levels above 90 dbl causes hearing loss. Wouldn't that mean that decibels DO have something to do with this?

Re: Isolation Headphones

I was referring to Ear Buds in general. Noise canceling headphones on the other hand are much safer.
