Re: Drum Throne

I've had my Sound Percussion Saddle type throne for 7 years now.

I've lent it out to a few drummers at the studio.

Nothing butt compliments on this throne. So go to your local drum shop and give it a butt test for yourself.

Butt, ofcourse I would always vacuum the farts out of it when I get it back each time.

Re: Drum Throne

Tama makes some very comfortable thrones. You could try them out. Your butt should be very comfortable. If you play for hours at a time, you need to be comfortable. Brand names doesn't really matter at this time. Your butt does.

Re: Drum Throne

I recently got a throne with four legs and I'm happy with it -- I got it used and don't know the brand name. I didn't realize that some thrones are not built for the heavier drummers. I'm approaching 200 pds and my buddy said a regular throne won't be stable enough. Imagine the back pain if the throne collapsed, nevermind how wobbly it gets!

Re: Drum Throne

Brand name doesn't matter...unless you are concerned about warranty service. Best advice I can offer is to get thee to thy local drum shop and butt-test every throne you can. Buy the best you can afford. You will be parking your ass on this piece of furniture for more hours than any other furniture you own besides your bed, and your performance will be affected by it one way or the other. I have not only approached 200lbs, I've had an extended conversation with it. I now have a Rock'n'Sock, and I'm quite content with it. I bought mine with the backrest. I find that I don't lean on it except between songs, and then it comes in quite handy. But then, I'm an old guy...YMMV.
