Drum Throne

Sorry if this has been posted somewhere else on the forums.

Can anyone recommend a drum throne(stool) as my current one is a budget throne and is nearly 5 years old.

i am after one that will allow me to play for hours without becoming uncomfy.

Thanks for any help you may have to offer!

Re: Drum Throne

I've tried a number of thrones through the years. My favorite and in my opinion the best is my current throne. I have a roc-n-soc saddle style. Comfortable for hours of playing and very well made.

roc-n-soc and pork pie make really nice ones. theres alot of really nice ones but you definately gotta pay for them. they're more expensive than i can stand paying for them, but if thats important to you then grab you one!

Re: Drum Throne

if your looking for a good throne roc n soc is probably one of the best but it is expensive, so if you want to save some money get the seat on e-bay and use your old base but first find out what the hole in the seat measures I think it's 7/8 or 1 inch then measure the shaft on your base it may fit if it does your in business. The seat should cost around $60.00 You can get a replacement seat at Guitar center as well, that's not bad for a roc n soc throne. GOOD LUCK SLINGERLAND

Re: Drum Throne

SkiWeed I hope this helps you out but if your posture is bad when sitting your going to have back problems and tire out fast, sit up straight and try to relax, a good throne will help you become more comfortable while sitting and be easier or better on your back. Now the idea is to find a throne that's good for YOU. Try Roc n Soc or Pork Pie they make excellent thrones.
GOOD LUCK ON YOU JOURNEY SLINGERLAND

Re: Drum Throne

You'll get an excellent result and exactly what you're looking for (ie: hours of playing in comfort) from a mapex - even mid-range - suede or faux suede saddle-style throne, providing you don't insist on having a back rest. I personally have never needed one. A posture correction will do so much more good to your back than a back rest will.

I paid around £90 for mine, so it wasn't bank-breaking, but I've had hours and hours of enjoyment from it. It's never let me down.

Roc'n'soc are also awesome, don't get me wrong, but I agree with Slingerland, it really does depend on what's good for you. Go into a shop where you can try one out if you can, and when you buy, keep the receipt just in case.

Hope this helps.
Keep drumming.

Re: Drum Throne

I would recommend a double braced stool for sturdyness, And one especially with a good name on it like Ludwig or Pearl.
Good luck!!

Re: Drum Throne

Yeah Roc 'n' Soc, Ford Smart Ass, Pork Pie are good but they are vinyl and use cheap mounded foam. Its like sitting on plastic...no wonder we sweat. A real throne fit for a king can be found on www.drumthrones.co.uk...............We're talking perforated leather and memory foam...........awesome...
