Hi drumsetconnect,

I recently was tuning my drums because I have a gig tommorow, and when I went to my snare, I took off everything, tom and bottom heads, and the wire, but then when I put it back, the snare wire mount thing (i don't know if thats what its called) keeps getting loose it doesnt hit the bottom of the head cuz when i hit it, it makes a nasty noise like the wire is half up and half down it's terrible

Well what I'm trying to say is how do I fix this, because the mounting doesnt lock, and it doesnt hold down it just folds here is pictures



I just want to say before you answer that, I've never taken off the snare wire before... also, I don't even know if I put it on right, but there has never been a problem with this before, and it was always secure

do you guys know how to make it back to normal? I've tried tighting everything... also please tell me if the snare wire is on wrong too please

Ryder904 the best advice I can give you because I'm not there is this go to youtube.com and type in how to tune a snare drum and watch a few and you'll be OK

You have a strap strainer there so you should be able to see some indentations or marks on the strap where it was clamped tight onto the butt plate on one side and the throw off on the other. You do have the strainer (snares) with the correct side down in the picture so you are good there.

If you don't see marks then center the strainer on the reso head and then feed the strap thorugh the butt plate, while making sure the strainer stays centered pull the strap tight through the butt plate and tighten it down.

Then on the throw off, make sure the tensioning screw is about half way between the top and the bottom (this will give you lots of adjustment both to tighten and to loosen). Make sure the throw off is up (like it would be to have the strainer tight) and feed the strap through the throw off and pull it snug and tighten it down.

At this point all you will need to do is to adjust the tensioning screw (with the throw off down) to tighten or loosen to get the required effect.

All I can see from this pic is that you need to place that snare strap back where the markings were.

So release the throw off and loosen the screws, place that strap back where it was according to where the marks are.

Tighten the screws and place the throw off back to the on position.

The snares are facing in the right position against the batter, but in that pic I also noticed that the snares are not centered properly.

Also make sure that the opposite end is also placed where the markings where prior to removal.
