Smile Getting The Right Kit!!!

Hi Guys!

I'm the lead singer of a rock band, and I'm looking for some advice for our drummer. In the near future he's gonna be looking into buying himself a new drum kit, and I'm here to get some advice from people regarding the best brands for the job!

I feel that it's important to say that he really plays them hard, so it would be good to get a good solid kit with VERY sturdy cymbal stands, also the best cymbals and sticks for someone who really likes to beat those skins.

Any suggestions/comments/recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

W.

Re: Getting The Right Kit!!!

Well we will need a bit more info if it is possible. What is his price range, what type of music, what kind of kit is he using now, what kind and size sticks is he using now?

With this info we can toss out some suggestions on kits and cymbals no problem. Sticks are a very personal thing and that will probably be a choice he will have to make after trying several different sizes and styles, but we can give you an idea of what to try.

Re: Getting The Right Kit!!!

Thanks Der Trommler,

I'll do my best, I'm not 100% but I think he's looking for something between £500-£700.

We play rock music to put it simply - all own own material

We only have one kit, and it's pretty old, we've bought Pearl replacement parts in the past - but were told that there are many copies out there that use the same hardware/furniture. This kit is in sit u at the moment for recording purposes. So he uses whatever is available at rehearsals which varies.

I think he's still trying to find his ideal stick, but I can find out which he likes - but obviously suggestions would be good based on our style and the aggressive nature of his playing.

Thanks

W.

Ok 500-700 pounds (823.50-1152.90 dollars) will get a decent drumset. I assume by what I have read that he will needing an entire kit (shells, hardware, cymbals). One thing I failed to ask was how many pieces is he looking for including the snare drum?, and is he set on new equipment or is a good quality used ok?

This is gonna be a tough one... especialy for that price... imo. Tama comes to mind right away for me. And for cymbals... either Zildjian custom a's or Paiste would be my choice to give you.
Good luck, and let us know what ya pick up!!!
