Remo vs. Evans What do you guys think?
Remo or Evans?
Who is better? (In general)
I'm going to have to go with Remo.
They saved my $200 COMPLETE kit (yes, cymbals, stands, single braced of course )
from the land fill.....
For now.

Re: Remo vs. Evans I use pinstripe on my toms.
They really sound a lot better than the old factory heads that came with my drum set.

Re: Remo vs. Evans I go back and forth on this one. For the last couple of years, I was putting Evans EC2 clear heads on my toms and really liked the sort of 'wet and funky' sound they gave. Before that, I had Remo coated ambassador heads on my toms. However, just a couple of weeks ago, I tried something new; I replaced the EC2's with some Remo Black Suede heads and I am really digging the sound they give. They have similar qualities to that of the EC2's but with a more controlled sustain. Overall, like I quite often say, never play by brands, play by ear! |

Re: Remo vs. Evans That does make sense.
My Remo Pinstripe on my 8''x10'' tom when it's tuned right,
it really has a funk sound to it.
It really feels like you shrink when I hit it.
It's very booming.
I understand Play by Sound not brand,
But Reliability and quality of the heads also play a major role in this pole. |

Re: Remo vs. Evans Of course reliability is a huge issue, especially when the object of creation is designed to be pounded by a wooden stick However, I have yet to see a large difference in quality between the Remo and Evans heads. I think they are both great brands but if you find something you like and it works for you, stick with it! Even if it means playing just one brand. |
