Double Bass Pedal Recommendations?

I have a sp double pedal right now and I'm not a huge fan of it so im thinking about getting a new double soon. So do any of you have some suggestions about a pedal below $350 that has nice smooth quick action?

Re: Double Bass Pedal Recommendations?

the DW 5002 pedals are great, they are $379 i think, but pretty close to your budget. 7002's are somewhere in the 350 range also, not quite as good as the 5002's, but still good.

the tama iron cobra is good, but its 379. personally i dont like it because something about the way the pedal is hinged makes me uncomfortable, but nobody else seems to feel the same way as me

also, ive heard good things about the pearl power-shifter eliminator pedal, but never played it. anyone know anything about that one???

Re: Double Bass Pedal Recommendations?

Butter,

I think you have it backwards there dood, the DW 7002 has a nicer hinge than the 5002 so it is smoother than the 5002. They are identical with the exception of the hinge.

I would have to say that the Tama Iron Cobra is smoother than the DW 7002 by a little bit even though I am partial to DW.

Luke,

Are you looking for something brand new, or is used a possibility?

I would say the Taye PSK602 double pedal.
It's amazing and it's only $170.
Heres a nice little link:
Buy Taye PSK602C Bass Drum Double Pedal | Double Drum Pedals | Musician's Friend
The pedal is Smooth, fast, and quick.
I'm getting it. Double chain drive too!

Re: Double Bass Pedal Recommendations?

Thank you all so much for the suggestions so far!
And Der Trommler I was thinking about used because I have a ten year old single tama pedal that still works great so I know that pedals can last a long time. So used is definitely an option for me.
As for the Taye pedal, that sounds like a great deal I'll have to try that out as well as the other pedals mentioned next time I get over to a music store.

Re: Double Bass Pedal Recommendations?

Nope, to get the adjustable cam you have to go to the 9000 series pedals. The 5000 and 7000 have the turbo cam.

Re: Double Bass Pedal Recommendations?

ok i just went and looked at thier website and i guess i was getting the adjustable cam mixed up with the different drive systems. the 5000 just has 3 different drive systems. sorry bout that

but now that i looked at the site, i find that the 5000 has a ball bearing hinge system and the 7000 doesnt.

Re: Double Bass Pedal Recommendations?

Ah hell butter I apologize, I am the one that had that backwards not you. You are correct the 5002 has the ball bearing hinge and the 7002 does not. So the 5002 is smoother than the 7002.
