Toms and Snare problems?

When I ever I go into a run on my toms I can hear my snare vibrating. As if I was hitting it very lightly. Do I need to buy a new snare? Or do I need to buy new Toms? Or is my drums to close? So if you could please help!!

I have a 20 wire snare drum.
Only buzzes when I hit the 8x10 tom.
What do you have?
Less snares= less buzz.
Simply because with less snares, there are less objects for the snares to hit when they get vibrated.

You might have to reset you snares buy adjusting the strings or straps I found buy tighting them up might take out some of the buzz

Re: Toms and Snare problems?

This is a common problem especially with deep snares, so tightening the snares should solve this.

If the tension adjustment knob is up all the way then release the snares all the way and on the opposite side you'll have to come up on the plastic retainer a bit and then try adjusting the snares again.

This definitely does not mean that you need a new snare. Should you desire to get a new one, then for example if you have a 14x6, you may want to upgrade to a 14x51/2 or a more shallow snare. Even if the snares are loos on a new snare, you'll still have this problem.

The result will give a much higher cracking pitch sound.

Good luck and always try the cheapest way first. An adjustment should be the resolution to your problem.

If you have stock snare wires, that could be it.
I try adjusting, but if you still have the stocks, you should probably upgrade to the puresound equalizer, or the blaster.
Only get the blaster if you want a really big cracking sound, and that's it.
