stubborn snare

what up yall
thanks for all you guys who lead me to my batter head decisions im loving the g2s and its all thanks to you guys.

i got a new one for yall. my snare issent all that great i still have the stock heads on it and i got it really tight and high pitched but my problem is that whenever i play a tom my snares rattle like crazy.i know this is a pretty common things with snares but its getting annoying and i know yall maybe have some ideas as to how to fix it.

i dont know if its a head thing or i need to tune it differently i just need some help

yall have been great and welcoming to me with this problematic kit but im making it better everyday

all help is welcome
cheers
drew

Re: stubborn snare

It's very normal for your snares to rattle a little bit when you hit another drum, although if they are rattling excessively then i would recommend tightening the snares themselves! Also if your still using stock snares I recommend some puresound blasters snare wire, they will make your snare sound a lot better trust me I was glad when I bought some for my snare. Also if the snare heads are still stock and you were thinking about upgrading a good batter is Evans Dry batter/Evans Hazy 300 resonant head. Finally if your snare rings too much try out some moon gels! they're cheap, durable, and stop drums from making annoying ringing sounds

Re: stubborn snare

Snare buzz!!!
ughh...
I hate it too.
Every time I the 8x10 tom, the snare goes crazy!
Do you know how many snare wires there are in your snare?
The less snare wires you have, the less snare buzz there will be.
Snare buzz is generally caused by the vibrations of the other drums when you hit them.
Those sound waves get to the snare and cause the stands on the under side to vibrate
and hit each other, causing snare buzz.
The less snare wires you have, the less they have to hit, less snare buzz. tah dah!
Luke recommended some great products, so I would go with those.
Good Luck, and Happy Drumming!

Re: stubborn snare

Yeah I've got the Evans st dry and the 300 hazy and my she don't buzz too much. Someone else posted a great YouTube clip about snare buzz recently. I think it's predominantly in the tuning and number of wires.

Re: stubborn snare

Drew go to youtube and type in BOB GATZEN SNARE DRUM BUZZ you'll find out what to do in detail. you'll also learn how to tune your drums and alot of things that take years to learn.
Let me know if this site was what you wanted and if it helped. SLINGERLAND
