Talking Remo ebony pinstripe bass head?

has anyone tried the Remo Ebony Pinstripe bass head? i was wondering what it would sound like with the Aquarian Regulator reso head. also i have found that some drumheads just sound terrible straight off like they sound "plasticy" if you know what i'm saying.

Re: Remo ebony pinstripe bass head?

I have used the clear pinstripe bass head and used to swear by them until I tried an Evans EMAD 2 clear.

The pinstripe can be a little ringy and depending on what kind of beater you are using and I suppose could be plasticy sounding. It should work fine with any decent resonant head and I would say Aquarian falls into that catagory no problem. Does your bass reso have a vent hole (microphone port) in it?

What kind of sound are you looking for?

yes my reso head has a port hole and as for my sound i am looking for a very full sounding BLAM that hits you in the chest.
