Tunning

I recently bought ebony pinstripe drumheads. They have a wierd after tone sort of thing going on. I was told that i had to "break them in". What is the best way to do this?

Re: Tunning

That after tone is known a resonance.

Get some resonance Gel of resonance Rings to stop that from happening.

Also check out the tuning bible, Skinslapper swears by it..

Re: Tunning

first off that Drum Tuning Bible looks very interesting!

I've used Remo heads forever....the glue in the rim part always (or usually) cracks when you are seating the heads....what I do, I saw somewhere on the web somewhere (can't remember where :-)....tighten the head a little, push on it in the center (pretty hard) with the ball of your hand, you SHOULD hear some cracking, that's the glue cracking/seating, and that's OK it won't hurt anything...tighten some more....push down again...repeat as necessary....then tighten to your desired pitch...play your ass off

After the initial seating/tuning, I may have to fine tune a bit for the next couple gigs, but for the most part I have always had pretty good luck with em staying in tune....but, that may also be a DW thing

Re: Tunning

BUDDY If you want a step by step visual tuning so you can't make any mistakes I recommend this it's a great way to tune your drums and you can stop and start it whenever you want and SEE what he's doing so you do the same thing. GO TO youtube.com and type in
bob gatzen drum tuning and choose which you want to tune snare, toms,
Let me know how you did and if it was as easy as I said. GOOD LUCK SLINGERLAND

In that case, get "The Drum Dial. It's worth it and better than getting a head ache.

After select the parameters, you can fine tun the drums to your taste. I've got a 9 piece kit and it would take me days instead of one to tune them all my way.

Click below and check it out.
