Coated heads are mellower and have more tone, clear heads have more attack and are louder

ohh i see, i was thinking of getting some Remo Pinstripe drumskins are they as good a quality as evans.

Remo pinstripes are very durable I've had mine on for while now but they just seem too dead and boomy to me. I'm looking to switch over to evans EC2's. Those are the same thickness and are 2 ply so those should stand up just as well as the pinstripes. IMO evans EC2's are better then pinstripes, they have really nice tone and decay.

Oh dude I wouldnt suggest Remo Ambassadors for a floor tom unless you have a fair amount of moon gels, go for the self muffling heads (Y) such as Pinstripe, I have a Ambassador on my 13" tom and it rings like a jungle drum xD

Dead? Durable? I never found those in Remo heads, I always find them to mark up quickly but for me they stay in tune for a loooooong time

Cheers guys, i think i will stick to evans Ec2s what about the evans GC2s coated they sound pretty good, what dyu guys think.
