Hardware battle

Well, lately my hardware is dying on me, so time to get new hardware, so my main options right now is the DW 5000 series, Tama Roadpro, or the Pearl 900 series. I'm probably gonna go with the DW 5000 series, Im on a budget but I plan to replace hardware over time and get one at a time instead of all at once. Could anyone give me a specific comparison among the three such as pros and cons?

Not enough info, Bro.

You want double or single. Either way, I would stick with DW 5000 or 9000 series and get that extra kick.

Re: Hardware battle

The Tama Roadpro is their top of the line and is good hardware. The Pearl 900 is a step down from the top of their line. The DW 5000 is their medium duty hardware and second in their line same as the Pearl 900 hardware.

If you want to buy the hardware just one last time then you might want to consider the Pearl 1000, the DW 8000 or 9000 or the Tama Roadpro. Anyone here will tell you that I am partial to the DW hardware and that is where I would steer you, but if the Pearl or Tama hardware is more in your budget range then you can't go wrong with the Roadpro or 1000 hardware.

If you step down from the top of the line to the next best hardware for these three manufacturers then it would be hands down the DW 5000.

Re: Hardware battle

I agree with der on getting the top of the line hardware for whichever brand you choose. I would also say go more for the tama or DW I've had better experiences with their hardware then pearl. Although I'm sure they are all very similar in quality. That pretty much narrows it down to whatever is cheapest and looks the best with your drums

Re: Hardware battle

I personally use Pearl and the 900 series is great.Very sturdy, looks great, and reliable.
But if you like the DW's go for them. They are great too. All of them are generally the same in terms of sturdiness, and strength, but it will come down to price as luke said.
Good Luck and happy drumming.

Re: Hardware battle

i have 3 tama roadpro stands. i have my splash on a boom arm attachment, and its only a 10" splash, but it bet it could hold a 20" ride. the thing is amazing.

DW is an awesome choice, too. i would go for one of those two.

Re: Hardware battle

If you like DW than stick to DW. I'm a Tama man myself and love Roadpro hardware. But DW makes great gear too. If your happy with them, than I see no reason to switch.

Re: Hardware battle

DW released the 2000 and 3000 series hardware at NAMM.
So if you want, you can wait until one of your local drum shops gets them in stock.
the 2000 is like DW's 4000 and the 3000 is I think like the 7000 or even 5000.
They look really good, so you might want to check those out.
I have them in the thread called Openings at NAMM 2010.

Re: Hardware battle

PdP 800 series can save you a buck for a new cymbal or drumsticks and they hold up well (I own two booms and will never go back to what I used before). I have seen 9000 stands breaking in mid concert, or even used in the music store. 7000s are cheaper single braced and look the same... with the same name!
