It's too bad there's no option to vote for "both." I've got clear heads on my toms, but coated heads on my snare drums.

I used to have coated heads on my toms, before giving clears a try. I honestly don't know whether I'll go with coated or clear, when the time comes to replace the heads currently on my toms - I like both sounds, actually.

i agree with you here as well. I prefer coated on the snare for sure and clear on the toms, for the most part.

Oh totally, my snare is a coated evans g2 powerdot. I don't know anyone who plays clear on the snare. I tried it once, but there's just no flavour to it at all.

some drummers use both depending on the situation. but Of course they have lots of money to spind on the things and well.... most of us dont.

I know the drummer for system of a down uses coated in the studio and clear on tour so I guess you if you can aford it use both if you like the sounds you get.

But then again I'm sure the drummer from System of a Down also has multiple drum sets for those things and a set up and tear down team as well.

I use clear pistripes for mounted and floor toms, and a coated Ambassador for the snare. Back when I first started playing drums, I used clear pinstripes all the way around. I went to the music store one day and they didnt have a clear pinstripe for my snare, so the dude runnin the place recommended a coated head.....I havent changed from coated on my snare since
