Evans: EC line

The line is currently going out of production (not popular enough), so stock up on your (floor) toms.

My music store has a 20% off sale on them There was one last 14" (EC2) last time I knew and only EC1 16" heads. Do the EC1s make good batters and would you recommend them to a fan of the EC2s?

WHAT???!!!

I just fell in love with these heads, are you really saying that Evans is canning these beautiful creatures???

This is almost as bad as when McDonalds removed the biscuit and gravy item from their breakfast menu!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Re: Evans: EC line

There are the NEW EC2 SST Sound Selection Technology (or something, Not to be confused with SSD control) Heads that are replacing them.
I just came from the music store again from buying what I thought was the last 14" EC2 clear, (then 2 more popped up) when I was learning about the SSTs.

Re: Evans: EC line

I switched over to the EC2 SST. It is a great head. If you like the regular EC2 heads, you will like the SST just as well. It is almost the same head.

Re: Evans: EC line

Yeah the SST's are just the updated versions of the SC2's. The EC2's have a ring around them but it is the same thickness and width for every head so you get uneven dampening. The new SST heads have a sort of ink i think it is and they put more on the larger heads and less on the smaller heads, which results in even dampening. I have them and they are great.

BTBAM's drummer already had the SST's on his kit.

Re: Evans: EC line

Does this mean that the EC resonants will be gone too?

Re: Evans: EC line

As far as I know they are keeping the EC resonants unless the update them too, but if they did I wouldn't mind because I like the SST's better.
