Iron Cobra direct drive/longboard conversion, 1st draft

Hey guys,

I've been posting this around and wanted to share something I've been working on for the past while.

Basically, this comes from me owning a set of IC powerglides and while I love the durability and the spring system, I long for less moving mass and more direct control. So, I figured I would set out to extract what I feel are the best features of other pedals (without violating patents, lol) and put my own experience in drumming and mechanical design to use. I'd like to actually sell 'aftermarket tuning kits' to those who own the ICs eventually and feel I could sell them for a price that would be way less than buying new pedals to get the same attributes.

Here's my orignal 3d model...

I've had to re design some parts after assembly as there was a inherent flaw that I have now worked out and made a 'quick fix'. I am working on redrawing it and will make it monday.

Below is the rough finished product. In about a week tops I should have this totally dialed with all the right hardware and whatnot to make it bulletproof and play like butta

I feel like the pedal is doing exactly what I want it to, there's not that huge amount of residual inertia like there was before. It still hits as hard, if not harder.

I weighed all the parts and figured my new linkage (top arm, vertical link and footboard connect) weigh about as much as the chain alone from the iron cobra.

overall about a 65% savings not counting the footboard.

I've built two aluminum footboards just so I could get testing. They kinda look like vampire coffins, lol. Wasn't planned, I must say, but I kinda dig it.

keep in mind I need to redesign the upper arm but it works pretty slick as is

It looks great to me, although I always scored in the 40th percentile in mechanical aptitude, so my endorsement is probably a curse.
