Drum hardware/What is this thing?

A friend gave this to me a few weeks ago, and I'm having a hard time figuring out what it's for.

Does anybody have any ideas?

Re: Drum hardware/What is this thing?

My first thought was a percussion rack. Looks as though it slide down and clamp onto a cowbell holder or something similar, then after looking at it closer I am thinking it designed to hold a specific item. What that item is I have no idea.

You might want to post this picture on the Pearl Forum to see if someone over there knows what it is.

When you do find out let us know would ya, my curiosity is killing me.

Crazy, huh?

It's about as big as your palm, and is pretty heavy for it's size. Since the "Pearl" logo is facing a certain direction, I'm assuming I have it upright.

Thanks for the tip on the Pearl Forum. I'm going to post it right now.

I once had something vaguely like that to clip onto the front of my bass drum hoop to keep the drum from moving. I think mine had just two pointed rods instead of four, and the pointed rods pointed down and forward.

I own one of those bass drum claws, but this item has its own small clamp for mounting.

So far I agree with Troms first thought. Mount it on a cymbal/tom arm and connect some timbalis to it.

It's for holding a tambourine My school has one almost exactly like that, you could probably use it to hold something else too
