Re: Double Pedals.

I am personally impressd by the Mapex Falcon. I noticed it has a lto of the same features as the Iron Cobra. Large oversized cam for power, speed, and smoothness. also using bearing on the springs. I do like how you can adjust your beaters from 10 grams to 20 grams. That would helpful before a show woulnt it? :P.

Re: Double Pedals.

Personally, I love the pearl eliminators. I use an old P-122TW, which is an older brother of the 2000 series of pearl eliminators, but they are essentially the same. Chain drive, felt and plastic beaters, Powershifter pedal board, perfect for heel-toe and slide, easy adjustability, responsive aircraft quality metal slave pedal, high quality parts. I've had mine for about a year now and its been great for me. Got it for £55 , I was very lucky to get it at that price.

I used a Dixon pedal in a music shop, and they have a great feel too, but the Pearl Eliminator Powershifters are the ones for me.

Re: Double Pedals.

Axis just came out with a pedal for Derek Roddy which has the beater moved forward " not sure how many degrees" that changes the attack angle giving more power. I dont know if it is on all new pedals. its also available as a modification to older pedals and somewhere around 100 bucks for kit. Check with dealers for better details but i did see at a clinic last week so may not be common knowledge yet.

FWIW Taye has recieved some awards Over the last year or two concerning their bass pedals. They have also garnerd praise and good reviews from the Drum mags. My understanding is that Taye has made s serious push to upgrade the quality of their hardware. So Maybe that's a company to look into.

Re: Double Pedals.

You guys are confusing two different setup angles. The '21 degree' is how the beater shaft sits relative to the holder, this is a fixed value.

45 degrees could be the angle between the beater shaft and the bass drum head when rested. Which, before the 21 degree thing, would have put the shaft perpindicular to the beater holder. Or it could be the angle of the main beater bracket to the horizontal plane of the pedal.

Either way, what the 21 degree angle gives you, is a beater strike sooner in the stroke of the pedal, than previous, considering equivalent distances from the head for each respective pedal example. I've designed a similar intent into my 'custom' beaters I made a while back. And it does make a very considerable difference in thud.
