Re: soundproofing

Foam padding on your walls?

Or better yet, just put mufflers on your drum heads.

Re: soundproofing

i hate the mute pads because they completely make your drums feel and sound like crap.......if you use them i would recommend turning your snares off while in use.....

Re: soundproofing

Use the search function on this site and you'll see lots of information. It might have been on another drum forum but I remember a member described how he built his studio from scratch. It was incredible how many steps it took, and how many materials were used, to build a fully soundproofed room. If you find good tips on how to soundproof an existing room, then post a reply on that old thread and it'll become current again.

Re: soundproofing

Another good suggestion would probably be to ask somebody who has a great deal of experience with muting rooms, such as somebody from a hardware store; if they don't have a great deal of experience they should at least be able to point you in the right direction. Asking somebody who gives lessons would also be a good idea because they usually have to soundproof their rooms in order to keep customers in the music shop from hearing their students and drums and such.

Just a few suggestions(:

Re: soundproofing

Having soft things around your drums and pillows in the corners of your room help a good deal. also blanket/comforters on the walls. Thats the cheap way to go about it

Re: soundproofing

I'm back to using toilet seat covers ($1 each at Value Village) on my drums so the neighbours and family aren't disturbed. I know, it's humiliating. But WTF, at least I get to play. I'm more practical in my old age. I've got plans for a sound proof room, but that's a future goal.
