Hi Qwerk,
welcome to the forums!
I've never heard of the jam session but i do know that slingerland is back to producing drums currently. i don't know when they stopped though. I just know that they are now back..

Here's the info I found..

"Legendary drum maker Slingerland brings back USA production

Slingerland, the ultimate in percussion for over 70 years, is bringing drum production back home to America with a new line of drums handcrafted in Conway, Ark. The Slingerland USA series will feature newly designed instruments as well as traditional favorites such as the Studio King snare and the Buddy Rich and Gene Krupa sets.

The Slingerland name has been synonymous with premium quality drums throughout its long history," said Henry Juszkiewicz, chairman and CEO of Gibson Guitar Corp., Slingerland's parent company. "And the new American-made Slingerlands will ensure that the legendary Slingerland sound will inspire a new generation of legendary drummers.

Slingerland was founded by H.H. Slingerland in 1912 to produce ukuleles and banjos, and the company introduced its first drums in 1928. Slingerland USA is based in a facility previously used for Baldwin grand piano production; Baldwin was acquired by Gibson in 2001. Slingerland will continue to offer instruments made overseas through Gibson's internet-based direct sales division, Musicyo.com."

Thanks for the info. Mine is definatly not mahogony, otherwise the specs sound about right for the parts of the drumset that are still slingerland. can anyone find any info on what years they made the Jam Session? I think I read somewhere that Slingerland stopped makeing drums in the early 80's so I'm thinking its at least 20 years old, if this is true.

1979 - Slingerland is sold to Gretsch
1994 - Gibson U.S.A. buys Slingerland name and patents from Gretsch and moves the company to Nashville, Tennessee

From this I'm guessing that Slingerland was discontinued from 1979 - 1994 as it was under the Gretsch name and then revived when Gibson bought it

Yeah, that's what i'm thinking too, because now that i've looked around a little, it seems like slingerland has been active for a few years now at least. The slingerland I have seems to have been produced sometime in the past 4 or 5 years.

when did you get the drums? And why are you looking up the history for it? Are you trying to sell it or see if it is a vintage set?

i can't imagine it being vintage after being in production in the past 4 years... just because it's a slingerland doesn't make it a vintage kit
