small digital recorders

I rehearse with my band, and when I practice by myself, I come up with better ideas, at least, more original ideas. I'm thinking that I'd like to buy a small digital recorder to record my ideas. Any insights to what recorders might be ideal? Also mic ideas might be good info too.

Many MP3 players contain vioce recording these days. Even cheap ones. But they usually don't have input for mics.

If you've got a laptop at home, you can download a program for free called krystal audio. then you just jam on of those cheapy mics in it and away you go.

If you're just recording ideas, that should do the trick just fine.

cool, that should be alright, but I'm not convinced that the mic in the machine will capture, say, bass drum lines. Especially since it's a deadened BD.

They won't sound fantastic, but they'll certainly be there.
