ATTENTION ALL DRUMMERS! Your opinions are required

My name is Jon Loizou, I am an Industrial Design student at Loughborough University in England (and also a fellow drummer). I am doing a study into electronic drums and particularly their compatability with an acoustic kit. As far as I can see, the opporunities are quite slim at the moment unless you are willing to compromise your setup and/or spend a lot of money!

Please add your thoughts, complimentary or otherwise!

Cheers,

Jon.

You can do anything you want. Many drummers have electronic pads/sounds added to their acoustic sets or play an acoustic set with electronic triggers which provide the output to the sound system or recording device.
Many electronic brains now use sounds that were taken from acoustic kits. It took awhile but it finally got to a point where they became useable for more drummers because of this.
Personally I don't like the sound of electronic drums (which use acoustic samples) as it still doesn't quite sound right through large sound systems but they sure are great for practicing/composing on.
