whats your opinion on guitar hero/rockband

i personally dont really like them. Yes, i know they introduce people to music, but they play these games instead of real instruments as a system of instant gratification, which this generation is doing more and more often, plus the more people tthat play this, the less people will be creating music, eventually causing these games to become there own destroyer

I think it's harmless enough. Personally if i've got time to play that, then I fell I should be at the drums practicing, but each to their own.

My guitarists are hooked on it which is great for their sense of rythm and timing.

If you want a game that's realy good for music teaching get Wii music. It's got a great drum tuition program that you use with the remotes and balance board which is an awesome starter for any budding drummer.

i like playing rock band more than guitar hero. the drums really do help those who don't know how to play the drums that well. my friends tell me it helps them with their coordination lol

Wii drumming is much better, at least for me. On guitar hero the drummer doesn`t feel real.

I like RockBand a lot. I was surprised how hard it is but it's an amazing toy. When I was a teenager, pacman was all we had, so you can imagine how mindblowing something like this is to me. I like to hear my 11 year-old daughter singing the rock/alt tunes.

I've shared on another thread that I use RockBand as a music minus one resource to practice my acoustic kit. I'd like to see the Wiimusic that skinslapper recommends. It might be the boost my kids need to get interested in drums. My passion hasn't run off on them for some reason.

I think they're great entertainment. Good for practicing co-ordination and timing for beginner drummers, but when people start saying "Hey we're making a band, do you want to drum? (Proper band, not just for screwing around on) We're using rockband for it"... as some people have at my school...thats when I feel its gone to far. It's a game for entertainment. PLay reallll instruments!! Mmm.

I also agree with what other people have said.

Hmmm...a RockBand band. That gives the term "house band" a new meaning -- coming to a living room near you soon.

I hope they don't take themselves too seriously.
