Band Advice

Hey guys whats up. This is my first band that im in. All of us are pretty good at what we play. The problem comes at practice. I cant get everyone to focus. Any tips on how to get everyone working together? There arent any real arguments but just not real focused. Also how do any of your bands run practice?

Also im new to the site. Glad to be here.

It may be that the holidays have the crew distracted, I would wait until after the new year and see if the problem goes away, if not address it then.

What exactly is going on, are they not motivated to practice or late to rehearsals?

At times it's hard for the entire band to practice together.

In the old days I would play with the lead and at other times i would play with the rhythm.

Then all together with the bass and the rest of the band.

You can't eat an entire elephant in one shot. But you can if you eat it piece by piece. Now don't go out the kill an elephant.

P.S. Having chicks around during practice, can be distracting also.

BUDDY When the Holiday's are over when you get together to practice you see who is taking this band serious and who isn't, then if they plan on just being there but can't for some reason get serious (you call it concentrating) then you have to replace that one or get held back that is if your serious. GOOD LUCK

Thanks Man and I think it probably does have something to do with the holidays. I think ill just wait it out and see what happens. If it doesn't improve then i will be asking this again. thanxs guys.

Don't be afraid to crack the whip a little and let your guys know when you expect a little better from them. People can often rise to the challenge and surprise you.

Hey to everyone who posted on this thank you.

I used a little of everyones advice here. My bands had four practices and weve never sounded better! Now I just gotta keep it that way. Thanx again guys.
