Helping People Today, as I was browsing at the not-so-local music store for cymbals, I saw some people that seemed to not know much about them. They were looking at some Solar Sabian cymbals(brass ), and I sort of moved them over to the B8 section. They were only shopping for beginner level cymbals, and I thought it would help them. I felt really good. We should all try it! |

Re: Helping People I did that one time, only it was with black SK edition Alphas, I moved them over to PST5's.
They seemed to like them.
It did feel good. |

Re: Helping People Since you two are in a helping mood, how about some advice? I'm looking to replace my Sabian B8's (most of which are cracked) with some high quality stuff. What do you recommend? |

Re: Helping People I'd go for AAX or Xs20 myself... I like Sabian because they're cheap and good sounding. I went to a music store, and checked out some Sabians, but then dawdled over to Zildjian. Wow I loved the sound!! But they're outta my price range |

Re: Helping People im surprised you didnt suggest Alphas IE
i have Xs20s. amazing cymbals. however, looking back, i wouldnt have bought the ride. it sounds good, but the bell is very small.
AAX are awesome if you can afford them. |

Re: Helping People OH DANG!!
Thanx for reminding me Butter.
Okay, Paiste Alphas (IMO) are the greatest mid-level cymbals you can buy, the are hand-hammered, Perfect for rock, they have a warm, projective, loud, crisp and cutting sound.
They also come in brilliant finish as they where released at NAMM 2010.
Pro's use 'em too. They are very strong and designed to take a beating.
Go to Paiste's website and check out some sound samples.
They also just came out with the metal crashes! |

Re: Helping People I give advice on drums/cymbals for a living and the trick is to give them what they need, not necessarily what you would use yourself. Everyones situation is different. Quote: |

| Apples and oranges there... XS20 are only not pro-level cymbals, and so AAX will cost more. |
