Paul Gray's Death

Paul Gray was found dead in a hotel on 24th May 2010. The death is not being treated as suspicious. Toxicology is being undertaken and results should be published in 4-6 weeks.

What do you think about this, how do you feel and how do you think he died?
In my opinion, probably drug abuse. Cause he did have a drugs problem, and has been arrested for it. But the world of metal has lost yet another hero....

Re: Paul Gray's Death

I'm a bit sad. I'm a maggot and Paul was a cool bass player. The metal world is having a hard time this year. So far 2010 has claimed the rev, pete Steele, dio, and now paul. I think all other bands should take a break and wrap up in cotton wool until January.

On a more heartless note I can't help but hope that this might bring out some better songwritting in the remaining slipknot camp. Their albums have been getting steadily worse and despite Paul being a key writer, perhaps this might reinfuse the group with some of the ferocious insanity that made their debut so good.

Re: Paul Gray's Death

I completely agree. The first slipknot album i got was Volume 3, and it was so good, and then I got the other ones, and when All Hope Is Gone came out, i got it first day, and I was like "Really?" most of the songs weren't so great. But even so, Paul's death is an intense tragedy, but most people can't really say they didn't see it coming because of the whole drug abuse thing. It really sucks, and I was really upset when I found out.

Now to raise the next question, who do you think they'll get to replace him?

Re: Paul Gray's Death

Who knows who they will get?

He was a pretty good bassist; Tregedy has set in for Slipknot.
From what I keep reading everybody is like "Slipknot is over".
What's the deal?

Re: Paul Gray's Death

Well, everyone in Slipknots getting buisy with other groups, so they might be on hiatus for a while, since John and Joey are with Rob Zombie, and Corey is touring with Stone Sour right now. They may just not get back together, who knows? But I for one hope they do. But they will need a monster to fill Paul's boots, thats for sure.

Re: Paul Gray's Death

They'll be back. Joey and clown are nothing if not shrewd businessmen and slipknot is a huge cashcow. I know Joey has been good buds with Jordy white of Marilyn Manson. I think he'd make a good replacement. Great player and writer.
