Niel Peart

Have any of you seen the front folded cover to MusiciansFriend sale catalog mailed out this week?

Neil Pert has done it again.

And I thought mine was big. You should see his. Dang!!!

So is this overkill or not enough?

Re: Niel Peart

Well for most guys that would be overkill, but Neil plays everyone of those pieces during a show. So in this case, not overkill.

The cymbals are sweet, I guess when many consider you the best you can have anything you desire.

I love the theme of that kit!
Very creative and unique.
I subscribed to MF magazine, but I haven't got the September issue yet...
In fact, I can't remember the last issue I got.
I love the style of those cymbals too.
I'd love to hear how it sounds!

Re: Niel Peart

I like the fact that he has kits made for certain projects and then he gives them away. For example, his hockey night in Canada kit is in the hockey hall of fame. He's a generous guy.....hey, pass a kit my way Niel...I'm Canadian too!

Re: Niel Peart

I tore that cover off and hung it on my wall. Totally awesome. I wonder if the drums are painted to look like they are multiple pieces of wood, or if they actually are?? I think there is a name for drums like that, that are strips of wood in a cylindrical formation, but I can't remember what it is. I'll bet it's just a paint scheme on Neil's kit, but does anybody know? Awesome idea with the clocks and cogs theme. It reminds me of Inception, but with drums.

Re: Niel Peart

If it isn't a painted on graphic (and it looks like it is to me) and is actually individual wood pieces then it is called "stave" construction. I am sure that is 24 karat gold leaf foil though.

Re: Niel Peart

It does look like a graphic.
But the first time I've ever seen vertical grain shells was on a DW.
So it wouldn't surprise me if it was vertical (or stave) grain.
But it would totally be another cool feature to his kit.
