Man I would say learn what you can from other people, and he can probably learn something from you. Don't worry about how someone else sounds, try to create your own.

Re: wow I suck

Listen. I hadn't played for years, even though I had drums to play on. Yup , I sucked too when I began to play again, but I got better.......the stuff that is in your brain as to what or how to play will come out if you give it time and you keep playing often. It is merely rust that has settled in over time that will loosen up. Seriously, back when, I was really fast, then got old and slow, so I thought, but with playing more and more and working on speed, you will get it back. Things will come to the surface without even thinking about them through time and effort. Stick to it, it will come back....honest.
Go For It!

You could invent a time machine to go back 20 years and tell yourself not to sell your kit
But seriously, don't get discouraged! Your drumming will only get better and more fun as time goes on, I struggle with practicing regularly being in highschool and involved with tons of things, but if you do its worth it!

Re: wow I suck

I started playing in 1964, in 1992 I got in a bad wreck which was supposed to end my drumming forever... NEVER! I started again about five years ago, with physical limitations... If I had a nickel for every time I said "I suck, I'm going to quit" I'd be driving a new Jag with the proceeds. It takes a lot... I understand that more than most. Lots of patience and practice Bro... If I can come back anyone can. I may not be as good as I once was - but I'm as good once as I ever was. Go see that other drummer... We all love to show off all the tricks
