The hardest thing for my band has been finding a good vocalist. When I joined in my freshman year, the band had been through 2 drummers, one of them worthless (in the way of drumming, but a really cool dude. He was kicked out of the band by his mom...), and the other not very good. I have been playing with the 3 original members since then. The lead guitarist is very dedicated, almost unrealistic in his goals, but pretty good. The rhythm guitarist is lazy, but he is good and he isn't lazy enough that it is a problem. The bassist isn't lazy, but not dedicated either. The only way we have practice is if both the lead guitarist and myself get it together, because we are the only really dedicated members

Anyway, the other 2 don't hurt our productivity with their lack of dedication so it's no big deal.
Before I joined, I don't think they really had a vocalist, the lead guitarist sang... He is okay, but he doesn't have a lead vocalist's voice. He sings backup now. Anyway, when I joined, another guy also joined as vocalist. He was great, but had different taste in music than the type the rest of us were interested in playing. A lot of stuff happened that was dumb and he ended up quitting the night of a gig, forcing the guitarist to sing. It was whatever, but we soon picked up the first ex-drummer as our vocalist. He is okay as well, but we dropped him pretty quick because he didn't get along with us at practice. Later we picked up our current vocalist. He is a great singer, even if he does look a bit different than the rest of us

The only thing I can complain about is his ego and how he whines about his range not being satisfactory. We also had a second bassist for a while, who knows why, but it was fun until we decided we just didn't need him.
Now I am presented with the problem of finding members for a ska band that is starting. We have a trombone player, a trumpet player (who I don't really like

), a guitarist (who is not very good), a drummer (who is awesome and is also myself

) haha, and a vocalist (the one from my other band). We still need a bassist, maybe a keyboard player, second guitar, and tuba if not a bassist. I don't think it will ever come together since I'm convinced that the best people who I want to play with are already in my band and don't want to play in another lower priority band that they have no passion for. All the other people I know who are good at what they play are not interested or are too old/too busy to bother.
Apparently there is some hint of a screamo/electronic band forming with myself and the ex-bassist from my first band. We have ourselves and a guitarist, we just need a vocalist/screamer and a synth-guy, maybe a second guitar.
Crazy how everybody in everything does stuff with everyone else who they previously had something to do with... or something.
