Precision Nesting Kits

I've just looked into getting a nesting kit by precision. Anyone who's handled these kits and have good and bad things to say about them please give your experience and knowledge of these kits
.

The precision Nesting drum kit looks like something out of the kids play nursery at Ikea...not a drum shop......Is it .sold door to door by bible salesman or like 1920s Hoover Vacuums pressure sales.......................
I can see the advantage of storage and transport.

but! over time those seal clamp locks are going to wear or break. The catches will start to rattle every time you kick that bass drum or hit a drum....buzz... groves and damage to inside of the shells...Nasty and all those drums together means one thing weight and a bad back.... That's the last thing a drummer needs.......I don;t really care what it sounds like when it looks ****....ask yourself this will it catch on.. when your walking to the car your tired after a gig and the catches come open and you end up with a drum kit all over the street....I would drive over it with a 4x4 and cut out the middle man......................

I guess its for drummers who like hiding things from there wives...like blow up dolls and the likes in a suit case.

"oh my the wife is home in ten minutes I must hide my drum kit before she finds me and says I'm cluttering up the house...good job i have the Precision Nesting,,,,,,

I would say a candidate for this kit is Homer Simpsons next door neighbour Ned Flanders

Re: Precision Nesting Kits

You make some good points. It just seemed to good of an idea to be truly a well constructed kit.

Re: Precision Nesting Kits

Andy - do you own one of the Precision Nesting Kits? I do not own a Precision nesting kit, but I do own a nesting kit from Drummer's World (recently closed in Manhattan), and I used to have a Yamaha HipGig nesting kit.

The Drummer's World kit was made using Keller 8-ply maple, and sounded amazing, as any high-end kit. I have been using it for large and small gigs, as well an many many recording projects. The latches are solid, and never loosen or rattle. It certainly is heavy....maybe 50 or 60lbs, but it is ONE CASE to carry in. That has made my gigging life a LOT easier. I have all my hardware, snare, pedal, cymbals in a rolling trap case, and the nesting kit case goes on top of that, so I can roll into the club in 1 trip. AGAIN ==> the sound is amazing.

Listen to the song "ISIS" - this is a live recording using my Drummer's World nesting kit ericpuente.com/sounds.htm

I am now considering the Precision Nesting kit, because I would like to increase the rack tom from 10-inch to 12-inch, and since Drummer's World is closed, I can't go back to them.
